Plymouth & Boston Trip

I was lucky enough to have a work meeting in Boston at the tail end of the Labor Day holiday week, so I was able to head to the East Coast a week early to spend the long weekend with Mom and then work from her house for a couple of days before the meeting. The weather for the holiday weekend was relatively cool and somewhat cloudy, due at least in part to the impacts of Tropical Storm Hermine.

Regardless, Mom and I were able to take a lovely paddlewheel boat tour cruise of Plymouth Harbor on Saturday, giving us a great view of the Mayflower II, the portico surrounding Plymouth Rock, and an up-close look at one of the decorated lobster statues that populate the tourist area around the Harbor:

For my business meeting, I stayed at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, right on the banks of the Charles River near the Museum of Science. I had a fabulous view from my window of the Museum, the River, and the Zakim Bridge in the background:

After the meeting concluded on Friday afternoon, my colleague and I braved the warm & humid conditions for a boat tour of the Charles River, which led us under several of the bridges connecting Cambridge and Boston. The clear skies provided a beautiful view of the Boston skyline with the Hancock and Prudential towers, the Citgo sign near Fenway, and other notable landmarks such as the MIT and Harvard campuses on either side of the River.
