Mother's Day Weekend Quick Trip

Friday, May 9-Sunday, May 11: Dress Shopping + Kids Sports

I made a quick trip to Denver to visit A and family over Mother's Day weekend. R took care of the boys on Friday afternoon so that A and I could have some quality time together, including dress shopping and dinner at a favorite Asian restaurant near their house. So nice to have some dedicated girls time to catch up, since the last time we were together was for her mom's celebration of life in February.

On Saturday, the day was all about the boys multiple sports events! We started with F's baseball game at 11am followed by C's two out-of-town (Boulder) soccer games at 3pm and 6pm (at different fields, of course). The car was loaded up with chairs, equipment, snacks, and beverages, since we didn't really have any time for lunch in between games. We attempted to stop for dinner on the way back to Littleton but didn't want to wait for a table, given that it was already almost 8pm, so instead we ended up at an Applebee's near their house. They actually had some decent options for A (gluten-free) and me (salad + salmon), so it ended up being a good choice. By the time we got back to their house, it was pretty much bedtime for the boys. A and I stayed up to chat a bit, since it was the only real "adulting time" we had the entire day! I know A and R are used to this type of weekend activity, but it was new for me. I was ready to be done by about mid-afternoon... :-)

Based on the results of C's soccer games on Saturday, he and A had to get up around 6am to head back to Boulder for an 8am game on Sunday morning. Yikes! I said goodbye to them before doing my morning workout. R and F had a more reasonable schedule, with a 10am baseball game not as far away. I said goodbye to them as well and then spent a couple of hours on my own doing homework before my scheduled Lyft arrived to take me to the airport for my early afternoon flight back to Chicago. I caught the Pace Pulse bus and was home with Mr. E and the kitties in plenty of time for dinner and our Spanish movie night.
