Fish Out of Water

Musings and observations about life from an East Coast native now living on the Left Coast in the California State Capitol since 2004. This fish has made her home in Madison, WI (7 years); Portland, OR (2 years); Las Vegas, NV (7 months); Middlebury, VT (3 summers); Marne-la-Vallee, a small town east of Paris, France (6 months); Middletown, CT (3 years); and Marshfield, MA, the fish's coastal hometown 40 miles south of Boston (17 years).

Race for the Arts

S & I did the Race for the Arts again this year. Photos are at the beginning of my Race Events link in the left margin. Great goodies at the end of the race this time - yummy muffins, cookies, and bagels from Panera Bread. Gotta love free food!!! :)

Summer Doldrums

*sigh*

It's that time of year again.

As the weather finally starts to turn cooler (lows in the 50s at night!), the a/c bills start to decline, classes resume at local schools, and Labor Day approaches...

...the Red Sox slump arrives with a vengeance.

Not just losing 5 - count 'em - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - games to the dreaded Evil Empire, but all 5 of the losses happened within the confines of "Friendly Fenway" (not so much for our boys), 3 of the losses were full-on poundings (Yanks scored 12+ runs), and 1 loss was a come-from-behind win by the pinstripes partially due to Papelbon's blown save of a game that should have been another W for Schilling and another S for our young rookie.

*sigh*

Sometimes it's hard to be a Red Sox fan. And no matter what all those pundits claimed about It will all be different if they win the Series, it really hasn't changed at all. Still the same emotional roller coaster. Still the same passion. Still the same frustration and disappointment with the wasted money and too many players on the DL and too few talented arms in the bullpen.

*sigh*
